Niacin includes nicotinic acid (nicotinate) and nicotinamide (niacinamide). The RDAs for niacin are 16 mg for adult men and 14 mg for adult women. Niacin may produce nausea, flushing, hepatotoxicity, and hyperglycemia, especially in doses that exceed the Tolerable Upper Intake Level (UL) of 35 mg.
